A elegant twist on Japanese street food
A elegant twist on Japanese street food
Gohan embodies traditional Japanese soul celebrating authentic and low-key dining rooms, with a fresh outlook on Japanese street food. A speakeasy only accessible by walking through a wine fridge, Gohan is an intimate dining experience that is small in size but has a strong identity and character.
Influenced by Japanese interiors and joinery the design of reflects Japan's historic charm through the use of textural materiality and warm tones. The main dining area encompasses an amalgam of rich colour palettes, high gloss deep red lacquers, various timber essences and marble.
When day draws into night, the ambience shifts from ladies lunches at traditional tea houses to a more masculine energy inspired from the underground gambling scene and late night dj sets in izakaya's, adding a playful twist that challenges traditional dining settings.
