Dragon-i reimagined, marks a new chapter for one of Hong Kong’s most iconic nightlife destinations.
Our redesign introduces two interconnected yet distinct experiences: a bold, experimental nightclub and a more intimate, immersive members' club. Together, the spaces celebrate music, art and culture, offering fresh ways to engage with the city’s iconic after-dark scene.
In a world overflowing with fleeting moments, there is a rare kind of power in a single image. A picture holds more than just colours, shapes, and textures. It holds the truth of what was, what is, and what could be. Each photo captures the emotion of a moment.
Inspired by the cinematic language of Hong Kong, the design of Dragon-i layers nostalgia, emotion and theatricality. Each interior is conceived as a frame within a frame, capturing the energy and emotion of Hong Kong nightlife from the 1980s and 1990s, when the city’s clubs were at their most vibrant and unruly.

The nightclub embraces a bold, multi-sensory energy. Wrapped in silver leather banquettes and mirrored surfaces, the central DJ console and dance floor anchor the space, reflecting movement and light across the room. Overhead, AV installations and ceiling features create a shifting visual backdrop, heightening the sense of performance. Coloured glass bricks, timber flooring and bespoke, layered textiles introduce warmth and texture, with removable mirror-panel screens that can transform the space for live sets.
The members' club, situated adjacent to the nightclub, offers a more intimate experience while retaining the sense of theatricality. A central DJ listening bar, complete with the owner’s personal vinyl collection, forms the heart of the space. Velvet-lined finishes, vintage-inspired furniture and softened lighting create a more immersive, tactile atmosphere.
Dragon-i is more than a nightclub or a members' club; it’s a cinematic experience, a stage, and a story.
Stained glass features and mirrored tables layer the space with colour and reflection, balancing softer, more feminine elements with a subtle rock-and-roll edge. Patterned textiles and curated pieces give each area its own character, imbuing them with a cinematic quality. Throughout, the design moves between contrast and continuity. Open terraces, a playful games room and karaoke spaces nod to traditional Asian nightlife culture, while material choices, from chrome to burl wood, add depth and variation.
Bars are treated as immersive experiences in their own right. The glowing glass-brick entrance bar, the DJ space within the members' club, each designed to be both functional and performative; places to gather and take part as the night unfolds.
Lighting and sound are integral to the experience. Reflections, shadows and acoustics are carefully considered, allowing the space to shift throughout the night. Moments appear, linger, then slip out of frame.
