We are unveiling a sensory-rich library at WOW!house 2025, the annual design showcase held at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, from 3 June to 3 July 2025.
We are designing the library in collaboration with our longterm partners, iconic Italian textile house Dedar. Our library is an unconventional experience, a design from an entirely new perspective. Visitors can expect the unexpected, enjoying a moment to pause and reflect.
We are proud to be part of this globally recognised event, showcasing our work alongside a world-class selection of creatives.
Music Playlist: Find full list here.
For this year’s edition, Pirajean Lees invites visitors into a space where design, emotion, and sound converge. Titled “A440 Hz – Connecting in Silence”, the room draws its name and energy from the tuning note heard just before a concert begins — an auditory cue filled with anticipation and presence. The space becomes a reflection on sound: not just what is heard, but how it’s felt. Here, the conventional idea of the library is upended — less a hushed repository of books and more a retreat designed for deep listening and layered experience.
When an orchestra prepares before a performance, every musician tunes their instrument to A440 Hz…
It’s this sound, and the response it elicits, that inspires the narrative throughout the space Pirajean Lees is creating.

The Listening Chair by Pirajean Lees. Discover the collection.
The Listening Chair, designed to house a vinyl collection and a record player is upholstered in Dedar’s woven Kotakot, with Amoir Libre piping. A modular sofa in luminous Monsieur Baudelaire velvet is layered with cushions in Adorabile Alpaca and Patchwork, finished with Pin Rouche braid. Hand-made by Maison Phelippeau, the two seating pieces are crafted in London using the finest artisanal methods and savoir-faire.
Inspired by traditional luthier cases, the timber bookcases, crafted by Bluecrow, are lined in Dedar’s Fanfara silk and Vladimiro angora mohair, enhancing the spatial rhythm while absorbing and diffusing sound. These details create a quiet, cocooning experience — more felt than overtly seen.
The central pendant light, crafted by Iberian Lighting in antique brass, features Dedar’s Wide Wool and sets the ambient tone. The rug, inspired by Chladni patterns and hand-made by Jennifer Manners, mirrors Pirajean Lees's A440 Hertz design narrative.
Timber stools crafted by Ben Whistler, upholstered in Splendido Splendente metallic velvet, bring sculptural softness to the library. Architectural lighting by LightIQ emphasises the jazz-inspired ‘A Love Supreme’ drapery, and plays with highs and lows, highlighting textures, tones and sculptures by French sculptor Pira.
Curated Jo Malone scents deepen the Muti-sensory experience, layering fragrances in the room.
At the heart of the design is a question: how does sound shape a space? - “In today’s urban landscape, true silence is not the absence of sound but the art of controlling it,” - the studio reflects. Informed by a shared love of music — particularly jazz — between Pirajean Lees and Dedar, the room explores the interplay between quiet and expression. “The result is a design that captures that moment of breath before a performance begins, a space charged with stillness and intent."

The Narrative, A440 Hertz. Discover the collection.
As a curated collection of knowledge, a library stands as a physical representation of silence, a quiet retreat from the world.
For WOW!house, we approach the design holistically, by exploring how sound can shape a space. Silence ends as the music starts, sounds are held back, muffled and subdued. Emphasizing this sensorial quality of conventional libraries, we create an immersive experience embracing the power of silence and the expression of sound.
In today's urban landscape, true silence is not the absence of sound, but the art of controlling it. Music, as an artistic expression, embodies this delicate balance of sound control.
Our narrative stems from A440 Hz - the tuning standard of musical instruments before a concert - the sound of anticipation. An emotionally charged moment filled with imagination, thrill and wonder of new discoveries.
More than a decorative showcase, the library offers a quiet moment within the bustle of WOW!house. Emotionally rich and acoustically aware, it’s a room that reconsiders how we experience space — asking not only how it looks, but how it makes us feel.
